We took a long weekend to head back up to Virginia for a full weekend of family visiting.
Friday: We got up to Kenbridge around noon, and stopped by to see Granddaddy Estes at work. We went on to the Estes house, and saw Grandma. Later that evening, we went into town to see Aunt Beth, Ashley, and Blake, who were all glad to see us. Hayley was entranced watching her older cousins run around the house. We stopped by to see Nana, but she wasn’t home, so we we went back to the Estes home for the night. Hayley slept well - going down around 8:30 and getting up around 6:30 the next morning.
Saturday: We went next door in the morning to see Holly’s neighbor Sue Cage, who celebrated her 96th birthday on the 4th. We continued on to Victoria to their “Autumn Day” celebration. The celebration was fun, and we ran into a few old friends and teachers, including local artist Eldridge Bagley. It was then up to Petersburg to Grandma Queen and Bill. Beth and the kids were up there, too, so we all had a good visit. Hayley didn’t sleep quite as well Saturday night (up at 11:30 and 3:30).
Sunday: We got up and had a nice breakfast, and Hayley bumped her head for the first of about 800 times today. We went to Dundas to visit with Grandpa Minter and LyLy. Grandpa had shoulder surgery on Monday, and is well on his way to making a successful recovery. Hayley started getting fussy after lunch, so we set out for North Carolina, getting back around 4pm.
So it was a busy weekend, but we’re glad we got to see so many people. They were all impressed with Hayley’s standing and “walking” abilities, as well as with how cute she is.
