Hayley and Kate Minter

Kate has a pretty good vocabulary for a two-and-a-half-year-old but she occasionally says some very funny things.

Wade got me a new iPod Shuffle for Christmas so we gave my old one to Hayley.  Kate would not be left out, so Wade gave her an old MP3 player he got for free from work.  But instead of calling her player an “iPod,” she calls it an “ear-pod.”  She’ll say, “Can I listen to my ear-pod?”

Another funny thing Kate says is “lasterday.”  We think it must be a combination of “last night” and “yesterday,” as in, “Lasterday, I took a bubble bath.”

Hayley continues to do well in school and Kate continues to progress with her potty training.  Other than that, there isn’t much news.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back East over the summer!

“I Know Kung Fu”…..”Show Me”

A conversation at dinner the other night.

ME: “Hayley, did you just kick me in the knee under the table?”

HAYLEY: “Yeah….it was an accident.”

ME: “Well, what do you say?”

HAYLEY: “….hiiiiiii-YA!”

Holly about spit out her food. I had to explain to Hayley that if you accidentally kick somebody, you should say “Excuse me” or “I’m sorry,” and that “hiiiiii-YA!” is reserved for when you are vanquishing your enemies with your Kung Fu technique.

I think we may need cut down Hayley’s time playing “Kung Fu Panda” on the DS.

Don’t Believe The Hype

I think I’ve figured out Kate’s role in the current house dynamic. Her job is to act as a hype man to her older sister.

Conversations generally go something like this:

Hayley: “Daddy, we had a busy day.”
Kate: “DAY!”
Hayley: “We went to the zoo, and saw the giraffes.”
Kate: “ZOO! RAFFE!”
Hayley: “They reached their necks up into the trees to get something to eat.”
Kate: “TREE!”

(etc, etc, etc)

If she starts wearing an oversized clock around her neck, we’ll know for sure.
