If you’ve noticed that the “Baby Videos” section hasn’t updated since March, that’s because our digital camcorder bit the dust shortly after that, and we had no way to get any video of the child. But I finally broke down and used some birthday gift certificates to get a new MiniDV digital camcorder, and it’s arrived at the house today. So I should hopefully get some new video of our big girl online in the next few days. She’s grown quite a bit in the last seven months!

I’ve been ultra-slack about putting new videos online – the last one was in September. So I’ll make up for it with a January/February double feature.

In the first part, Hayley amuses herself by dancing to the Taters flash animation. She’s at the point now where every time she sees my laptop, she says “Watch Tay-ters.” And she’ll watch it, too. Over and over. And over. And over.

Her little dance is cute, though.

In the second part, Hayley goes with Mommy next door to feed Max, the golden retriever. She loves Max, and she can pretty much feed him all by herself – all Mommy has to do is open the “food closet” door for her. She then goes with Mommy to take Max outside, notable for her cries of “MAX! POO-POO!” that echo around the neighborhood.

It’s been a few months since I’ve put a new video online, so we took some film of Hayley playing on the slide today.

We don’t have any swingset stuff yet, but our neighbors do, and they’ve invited Hayley to come play on it any time. Well, she loves her some slide action. If we’re out in our back yard, she’ll look over next door, see the slides, run to the fence, and yell “Swide! Swide!” She’s a good slider, too – she’ll just sit right down at the top, push herself off, and slide on down to the ground.

She sees Brian and Jenny next door walk up the slide to get to the top, instead of going up the ladder, so she thinks that’s the way she’s supposed to do it, too. And today, she surprised us by climbing up the slide to the top all by herself!

This video is larger than usual – 8:30 long, and 17MB in size. It’s hard to pack a week’s worth of new experiences into a short video!

Yup, it was the precursor to crawling, all right. Hayley’s been making many trips across the living room floor tonight. The cat is no longer safe.

Daddy got to spend about four hours alone with the baby tonight while Mommy went out by herself for only the second time since January. I survived, Hayley survived, and I got to see lots of crawling. I’ll try to get the crawling on video this weekend, if she’ll cooperate.
